Photshop Class 2, Project #5: HOT! Flaming Text Effects
Well, as Paris Hilton would say, "That's Hot!", LOLOLOL
OK, Anyway, this is an example of how to use text effects in Photoshop to create really cool stuff. Our professor walked through this example in class, but it is mentioned in Photoshop reference texts like the "Photoshop Wow" and "Photoshop Text Effects" series.

Photoshop Class #2, Project #4: Bicycle Race Gradient Montage
Photoshop Class 2, Project #3 El Gecko Guellco
This Photoshop montage is a tongue-in-cheek homage to the Geico insurance commercials which feature a clever British gecko. Here I have pasted the mosaic from Antoni Gaudi's Parc Guell in Barcelona as a layer over a stock photo of a gecko and layered both over a standard televsion image.

Photoshop Class 2, Project #2: Film Poster Montage
The professor mentioned that one of the key uses of a shall we say, "disjunctive" montage in Photoshop is to create movie posters that are montages of disparate images. I decided to crate a petit homage (petit fromage if you think it's cheesy!) to one of my favorite silent films, The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari. The film is a prime example of the German expressionist movement which later heavily influenced all of the film noir genre. One could even argue that it was the Rocky Horror Picture Show of its time, complete with a crazy doctor and a possessed zombie.

Photoshop Class 2, Project 1: Turtles Underwater
Ilustrator Project #2: Stairway to Eternity
Stairway to Heaven? Well...no, not really. It's a montage of a stone stairway and red covered bridge, both found along Forbidden Drive in Fairmount Park.
This is an example of using a clipping mask in Illustrator versus masking in Photoshop. I was really drawing a blank on this one in class that evening, so I know that it needs a lot of work. I will re-upload a better shot at a later date.

Illustrator Project #1: Fairmount Park Postcard
Photoshop Project #4: East Coast Penitentiary Postcard
The assignment from our Photoshop professor was to create a postcard, albeit a cheesy one. I chose to work on one of my favorite urban naturescape subjects, the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia.

Photoshop Project #3: Coney Island Postcard
This postcard was made as an homage to my father, Albert Belfiore, who used to be a ticket seller for the Cyclone roller coaster in the Coney Island amusement park of Brooklyn, NY. The photos are unfortunately undated. I used posterizing and a warming filter on the roller coaster image at left. I used general warming filters and text effects to add to the montage.

New Design Postings
This blog is being modified to include lots of interesting new subjects. We will expand the urban naturescape series to include a Fairmount Park, Philadelphia series. In addition, we will be featuring some works from photoshop class being undertaken at University of the Arts in Philadelphia http://www.uarts.edu.
Please be patient as our previous posts will be updated to our new Photobucket account.
